Re-thinking Working From Anywhere In The New Year

Q4 2022 was tumultuous. Here at WFA Success, I spent a good deal of time helping you figure out how to get a remote job that lets you work from anywhere in the world.

I’ll still be doing that this year. However, I’m adding another layer to this newsletter: how building your own income steams can help you fulfill the true promise of working from anywhere, absolute freedom. Because while a job is the foundation of a work from anywhere career, the ability to walk away from that job is the pinnacle of of WFA Success.

So today I’m going to share with you three things I plan to do in 2023 to generate income outside of my job. When I’m done, I'd love to hear from you (via a reply to this email) what you’re doing outside of a job to try to build income streams.

Print On Demand On Shopify

Print on demand has been around for at least half a decade. And there are A LOT of pros doing it well, as well as even more people falling flat on their face, or half starting and then giving up.

Those who do POD will often gravitate to Etsy, since it has a lower barrier to entry and can in theory be pretty passive. The reason I’m going with Shopify is because I want control over the shop experience, and I want clear data on what’s going on in my store so I can improve accordingly. That’s just easier to do on Shopify.

I’m also following the guidance of Joe Robert, one of the most well-established print on demand gurus out there. If you’ve never heard of him, check out podninjas.com. He has a great free course, and you can get a link

My goal: generate 3k in profit by the end of Q1. If I do, I’ll share with you the secret that helped me do it (I have an approach I think will help me do WAY better than the average POD store owner, but I could be 100% wrong).

Digital Downloads On Etsy

I’ve been hearing about people making 6 figures with Etsy printable since February 2022. It’s been driving me crazy to think that this is something people are earning from. For a long time I didn’t even believe it, and then the other day I had to make a CRM on Google Sheets.

It was AWFUL. I ended up using a template from Airtable because I’m still maintaining a paid plan. That’s when I realized there are people out there who have some variation of the problem I encountered: they can’t be bothered to use a free tool for something they would normally pay for, but also don’t want to pay for it.

So I’m starting a course this coming week on this exact topic: https://sharonsean.teachable.com/p/the-etsy-entrepreneur. I found this course by chance and love the reviews and the sales pitch. Once I’ve made my way through and started following the process, I’ll share here what I’ve learned and how you can potentially earn from this income source too.

A Marketing Agency

This one I’m keeping mostly private for now. Reason being, I’m not doing your traditional marketing, and I’m pretty sure there are only about 100 agencies in the world that are doing this kind of marketing.

Once I’ve started to make some progress with this, I’ll share with you what I’ve learned and how you can integrate this type of marketing into your career and potentially even your day job.

Why I Am Telling You This

I believe I owe you full transparency on what I’m doing in addition to a day job. While I know my guidance on getting a remote job can and will help many of you, I want you to build a career, and that means more than just the role you list on LinkedIn.
